Character stills from Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy unveiled!
Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy follows Kim Dok Ja, a man trying to save the world that has suddenly changed to match the contents of the novel he was reading.
Ahn Hyo Seop plays the lead role of Kim Dok Ja.
The stills depict Kim Dok Ja's everyday life as an ordinary contract employee at a game company and his transformation into a resilient figure in a world where the novel he used to read has literally come to life.
The reader, while on the subway on his way home from work, feels sad upon learning that the novel he has been reading for over 10 years has come to an end, but soon finds himself confronted with the moment when the world of the novel becomes his reality right before his eyes. In the world that has become just like the novel he was reading, he gradually changes as he uses the plots only he knows to overcome various scenarios and survive together with his companions.
Ahn Hyo Seop shared, "I wanted to portray Kim Dok Ja as an ordinary man that anyone could relate to, and I also wanted to depict the way everyone joins hands and grows together with such a character."
He added, "Believing that the character's setup was the most crucial part, I devoted the most time to character study, had many discussions with the director, and consistently practiced action scenes."
Lee Min Ho plays Yoo Jung Hyeok, the protagonist of the novel. As the main character, he possesses excellent skills and resilience, capable of clearing every scenario thanks to his regression ability, which allows him to start over from the beginning even after dying.
Having experienced much through repeated scenarios, Yoo Jung Hyeok is filled with cynicism. However, he takes notice of Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop), who brings about developments different from the ones he knows while on Dongho Bridge. Yet, due to his nature of not easily trusting others, he puts Kim Dok Ja, who proposes they work together, through a test.
Lee Min Ho said, "I pondered a lot over [how] the loneliness of a person who survives alone while living an immortal life [would feel like]. Since the character is constantly engaged in fights, I put a great deal of effort into preparing for the action scenes."
He continued, "I had to portray this worldview through Yoo Jung Hyeok. I believed that only if he felt real would the process of Kim Dok Ja's group overcoming crises within this world be convincing. I struggled a lot with how to make the action movements, gazes, and expressions not excessive, yet not feel fake either."
Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy is coming this July.
