On June 17, media outlets reported that Im Ji Yeon has been chosen to lead the upcoming fantasy romantic comedy K-drama Brave New World.
Im Ji Yeon's side responded to the casting reports. According to Artist Company, "It is true that Im Ji Yeon received the offer to lead Brave New World. The actress is currently reviewing the offer."
Brave New World will reveal the love-hate relationship between a legendary Joseon villainess and a modern-day evil conglomerate.
The upcoming K-drama will be the next work of director Han Tae Seob, who also created the works Cheer Up and Hot Stove League.
Im Ji Yeon was offered the role of Shin Seo Ri, an unknown actress who became vicious after being possessed by the spirit of a legendary Joseon villainess. Labeled a femme fatale and sentenced to death, she was then transported to the 21st century to begin a new life.
Brave New World will reportedly begin production in the second half of 2025. The airing date of the upcoming K-drama will reportedly be in the first half of 2026. The K-drama will exclusively air on SBS.
Before Im Ji Yeon greets viewers as a villainess, she will first star in the upcoming K-drama Mean Love with Lee Jung Jae, Kim Ji Hoon, Seo Ji Hye, Oh Yeon Seo, and Kim Hyun Jin.
