Kim Hee Ae is reportedly returning to JTBC in a new K-drama.
On June 19, media outlets reported that Kim Hee Ae will lead the upcoming K-drama Gold Digger. The actress's side hasn't responded to the casting reports.
Gold Digger will base its story on the BBC series of the same name that aired in 2019. It will reveal the story of a wealthy divorcée. While celebrating her 60th birthday alone, she meets a 33-year-old man at an art museum. The woman might have finally found happiness with the man, but her family suspects he's a gold digger.
Kim Hee Ae will reportedly portray the role of the wealthy divorcée named Julia.
According to reports, Gold Digger will be the joint work of Dr. Romantic's writer Kang Eun Kyung, who will join the new series as a creator, and the script of Gold Digger will be penned by Sun Young (Forecasting Love and Weather and Marry My Husband).
There is no information yet on which actor will play the role of Benjamin, the male lead of the K-drama.
Gold Digger is in discussion to premiere on JTBC. The airing date is still undecided.
If Kim Hee Ae confirms her casting, this will be her grand comeback to JTBC. The actress last starred in a broadcast channel in 2020 through the hit K-drama The World of the Married.
This will also possibly be Kim Hee Ae's first K-drama project on her new agency KeyEast. The actress left YG Entertainment in March 2025.
Kim Hee Ae last starred in the 2024 series The Whirlwind with Sul Kyung Gu, Kim Mi Sook, Lee Hae Young, Kim Hong Pa, and Im Se Mi.
