Actor Sung Ji Ru is joining the cast of the popular JTBC K-drama Good Boy.

On June 12, Sung Ji Ru's agency announced that the actor will be added to the cast of the JTBC weekend K-drama. He will work closely with Oh Jung Se

Good Boy showcases the journey of former Olympic medalists turned special police officers, recruited through an Olympic special recruitment program. These individuals are members of the 'Olympic Avengers' who fight against violent crimes using their unique skills

Park Bo Gum, Kim So Hyun, Oh Jung Se, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, and Tae Won Seok are the main leads of the K-drama. 

Sung Ji Ru is set to portray No Deok Gyu, a corrupt politician from Inseong City, who is subtly entangled with Min Ju Yeong (played by Oh Jung Se). 

According to reports, Sung Ji Ru will begin appearing on the upcoming sixth episode of Good Boy. 

The K-drama is the joint work of director Shim Na Yeon (The Good Bad Mother and Beyond Evil) and writer  Lee Dae II (Chief of Staff and Bring It On, Ghost).

Good Boy airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10:40 PM KST. It will have a total of 16 episodes. The K-drama can be viewed on JTBC and the streaming platform Prime Video. 

Good Boy will be the first official K-drama project of Sung Ji Ru. 

Earlier this year, the actor made a cameo appearance in the series The Potato Lab and Unmasked

The actor's last official K-drama project was the 2024 series Begins Youth, led by Seo Ji Hoon, Noh Jong Hyun, Ahn Ji Ho, Seo Young Joo, Kim Yoon Woo, and Jung Woo Jin

Sung Ji Ru is known for being part of the K-dramas Wonderful World, Insider, Bad and Crazy, Yumi's Cells, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, A Korean Odyssey, School 2017, and more.
