The Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony has been announced to be held on May 8 this year.

On March 24, the organizers of the awards show announced that the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards will be held on May 8 at COEX Hall D in Gangnam District, Seoul, and the Italian luxury brand Gucci will be a partner for the fourth consecutive year.

Marking the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals in 2026, the addition of the musical category is said to further elevate the awards into a comprehensive arts award that encompasses all components of popular culture and the arts.

The overarching theme of this year's ceremony is "The Stage". Beyond its literal meaning, it serves as a symbolic expression encompassing television screens, film, theater, and musicals. It conveys the intention to transcend genres and boundaries and to embrace all kinds of stages.

Eligible entries are content aired on terrestrial and general programming channels, cable TV, OTT platforms, and web platforms from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, as well as Korean feature films and theater and musical productions released domestically during the same period. Works previously excluded because they overlapped with last year's nomination review period are included in this year's evaluation.

The Gucci Impact Award, which will give its fourth recipient this year, has selected “The Stage of Impact” as its theme. This award is given to works that shed light on various issues surrounding society and people, foster discourse on those issues, and expand audience awareness through social messages.

In the broadcasting and film categories, a preliminary survey is conducted among industry experts and professionals from various fields prior to the selection of nominees to ensure fairness, professionalism, and objectivity in judging. For each category, a preliminary survey panel consisting of 30 members participates.

More information, including the nominees by category, award divisions, and selection criteria, will be announced on April 13.

Stay tuned!
