Seo Kang Joon and Ahn Eun Jin remain drawn to each other despite unexpected changes in new K-drama
The upcoming drama Between Steps has shared behind-the-scenes video and stills from its first script reading!
Between Steps tells the story of Park Min Jae (Choo Young Woo), who was a swimmer in high school but lost one of his legs due to an illness, and Im Yoo Jin (Kim So Hyun), who, after losing her way and wandering, embarks on a new path.
The drama is the latest — and final — work of the late director Ahn Pan Seok.
Choo Young Woo takes on the role of Park Min Jae, a doctoral student and former swimmer. After losing one of his legs to illness, he discovers the world of robotics and gradually begins forging a new path for himself.
Kim So Hyun takes on the role of Im Yoo Jin, a newcomer to Min Jae's research lab. Nearing the completion of her undergraduate studies in clothing and textiles, Yoo Jin finds herself unable to continue. As a result, she begins searching for a different path.
Introducing his character, Choo Young Woo explained, "Min Jae lost a leg to osteosarcoma, forcing him to abandon his dream of becoming a swimmer. With hopes of finding a new future, he turns to the field of robotics." He added, "Please look forward to Min Jae's journey of pain and growth, as well as his relationship with Yoo Jin."
Kim So Hyun shared that Yoo Jin initially gives up on attending graduate school to continue studying clothing and textiles, only to discover a new interest in robotics. "While Yoo Jin is uncertain about which path to take, she comes across robotics and also starts to develop feelings for Min Jae," she said. "I hope viewers will look forward to her fearless and straightforward personality as she pursues what she wants."
Looking back on their first script reading, Choo Young Woo recalled, "As I sat across from Yoo Jin and read lines, I honestly felt butterflies."
Kim So Hyun remarked, "It was my first time meeting Choo Young Woo as well, but our exchanges flowed so naturally that I felt we could create many enjoyable scenes together. We had a wonderful time at the script reading and laughed a lot, so I think the atmosphere on set will be full of laughter too."
Choo Young Woo also praised the cast’s chemistry, saying, "The chemistry among all the actors was really good, and there were so many clever and entertaining scenes." He continued, "I don't think I've ever been this emotionally moved simply by reading a script, so I believe this is a project viewers can really look forward to."
