Choo Young Woo shares why he chose 'Between Steps'

ENA has unveiled fresh stills from Between Steps, featuring Choo Young Woo.  

Between Steps tells the story of Park Min Jae (Choo Young Woo), who was a swimmer in high school but lost one of his legs due to an illness, and Im Yoo Jin (Kim So Hyun), who, after losing her way and wandering, embarks on a new path.

The drama is the latest — and final — work of the late director Ahn Pan Seok.

The stills show Park Min Jae visiting a hospital and anxiously waiting for his test results. He is also seen immersed in his research.

Park Min Jae is a man blessed with striking looks and intelligence, but he is inexperienced in relationships and deeply afraid of getting hurt. After becoming involved with Im Yoo Jin, who transferred from the Department of Clothing and Textiles, he reaches a turning point in his life.

Choo Young Woo explained his reason for choosing the drama, saying, "When I first read the script, I thought it was a straightforward story. Rather than centering on a special incident, I liked the process of two people who had each lost their way for their own reasons meeting each other and gaining the strength to move forward."

He added, "With director Ahn Pan Seok and actress Kim So Hyun involved, there was no reason for me not to choose it, and I thought I would be able to learn a lot."

Regarding his interpretation of the character, Choo Young Woo explained, "Min Jae is a strong person, but he also worries a lot and has a lot of fears. After losing one leg due to an illness and giving up on his dream, he is someone who has carried a lot of emotions on his own."

Between Steps will premiere on October 5. The K-drama will be streaming on Disney+ (select regions).
