The Korean movie Hope has surpassed 2 million moviegoers in just five days since its release, setting a new record as the fastest film released in 2026 to reach 2 million moviegoers.
According to the film's distributor, on July 19, Hope exceeded 2 million moviegoers on the morning of its fifth day in theaters. This is faster than Colony, which reached the 2 million mark on the evening of its fifth day.
Previously, Hope also set the fastest 1 million moviegoers record of 2026 by surpassing the mark in just three days.
Hope centers on Beom Seok (Hwang Jung Min), the head of the Hopo Port branch office in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). When local youths report a tiger sighting, the village is plunged into a state of emergency as they face an unimaginable reality.
