The Korean summer box office is showing a one-man show.

Comedy K-movie My Daughter Is a Zombie surpassed 1 million moviegoers just four days after its release.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, as of August 2, My Daughter Is a Zombie had recorded a cumulative audience of 1,146,221, crossing the 1 million mark.

This pace is a day faster than this year's top-grossing film in South Korea, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. It also matches the record of the summer box office hit of 2023, Smugglers, and 2024's Pilot, signaling that My Daughter Is a Zombie is on track to continue ranking number one on this summer's box office.

Expressing gratitude, the cast of My Daughter Is a Zombie released a celebratory photo commemorating the milestone to thank audiences for their support. Director Pil Gam Seong, along with Jo Jung SukLee Jung EunCho Yeo JungYoon Kyung Ho, and Choi Yu Ri, expressed their gratitude.

Upon its release on July 30, My Daughter Is a Zombie set multiple new records, including the highest opening score of the year (430,091 moviegoers), the highest opening score ever for a Korean comedy film, and the highest opening score among non-franchise Korean films released in the past five years.

Riding this momentum, My Daughter Is a Zombie has not only claimed a No. 1 spot in overall advance ticket sales, beating out strong competitors such as F1 and Pretty Crazy, but is also garnering rave reviews from audiences of all ages, raising expectations for its continued box office success.

My Daughter is a Zombie tells the story of a doting father who tries to protect his daughter, who has turned into a zombie, from the world.

The K-movie is currently not streaming on global OTTs.
