Renowned actress Lee Jung Eun will reportedly star in her first-ever action K-drama.

On October 24, media outlets reported that Lee Jung Eun has been chosen to be the main lead of the upcoming webtoon-based K-drama Granny (literal translation).

This will possibly be Lee Jung Eun's first-ever action role, 34 years after her debut. Her agency responded to the casting reports. According to them, "We have received the script of Granny and are positively considering the offer to star in the K-drama."

Granny will revolve around a 70-year-old woman who runs a gun shop with her husband. When the couple's only joy, their grandson, suddenly becomes a victim of violence, the grandmother seeks answers. Her investigation leads her to his former coworkers and an unacknowledged assault case, revealing that the culprit is a dangerous mobster. A secret proposal from mysterious people soon arrives, promising to change her life entirely. The K-drama will base its story on the webtoon of the same name by Jaehoo.

Lee Jung Eun was offered the role of Jung Sook Ja, the 70-year-old grandma who will hunt the people who harmed her grandson. Though the role required extensive action scenes, reports indicate that Lee Jung Eun was so deeply moved by the story when she read the script that she decided to take on the major challenge of the K-drama.

Granny will be the next work of director Han Dong Wook (The Worst of Evil). Sanai Pictures and Studio Dragon will co-produce the upcoming series.

Reports stated that the upcoming K-drama Granny will begin filming next year.

Lee Jung Eun recently starred in the K-drama A Hundred Memories. She is also expected to appear in the upcoming K-drama Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia, led by Kim Ji Won, Son Hyun Joo, and Kim Woo Seok

The actress is also set to make a special guest appearance in the upcoming Disney+ K-drama Knock Off
