The production team of Netflix's upcoming original series The East Palace has unveiled the drama's main poster and trailer.

The East Palace tells the story of Gu Cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), who has the ability to cross between the human world and the world of spirits, and Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a court lady who harbors a secret. Summoned by the King (Cho Seung Woo), the two set out to uncover the cursed palace's secrets.

The main poster shows Gu Cheon and Saeng Gang teaming up by the King's command. Gu Cheon stands in the middle of a pond shrouded in the red aura of the spirit world, while Saeng Gang pulls on a rough rope binding him.

Attention is focused on how Gu Cheon, who traverses the spirit world, and Saeng Gang, who can hear its sounds, will work to uncover the palace's secrets.

The trailer briefly introduced the series's worldbuilding.

A chilling stillness spreads through the palace as an ominous presence lingers. In the king's ears, a ghostly voice echoes, "I will eradicate the royal bloodline."

Sensing that "that incident from 30 years ago" is beginning to repeat itself within the palace, the King instinctively summons Gu Cheon, a spirit catcher, and assigns him a palace maid, Saeng Gang, to keep him under surveillance.

The two, under the King's orders, move between life and death, where bizarre, eerie beings begin to reveal themselves before them.

Along with the foreboding warning, "A great calamity will soon befall the entire palace," Gu Cheon enters the world of spirits, drenched in dark crimson energy, and battles them.

As resentment and hidden secrets buried deep within the royal court gradually come to light, the palace descends into chaos.

The East Palace will premiere exclusively on Netflix on July 17. Watch the teaser here
