Disney+ unveils stills from its upcoming historical K-drama, The Murky Stream, featuring Ro Woon.
The Murky Stream tells the story of people who each had different dreams of overturning a corrupt world and living a life of dignity. The K-drama is set against the backdrop of lawless Joseon era, where the once-pure Gyeong River has turned into a murky stream. Ro Woon, Shin Ye Eun, and Park Seo Ham star as the leads.
Ro Woon plays Jang Si Yul, a laborer who barely ekes out a living day to day working in Gyeonggang but goes on to become a walpae (local ruffian).

Si Yul is a man who, living hiding his name because of a secret from his past, has that secret discovered by Mu Deok (Park Ji Hwan) at the Mapo ferry dock, where he was doing forced labor, and thus steps into the world of the walpae. Although he would rather die than become a walpae, he accepts his inescapable fate and strives to establish order at the dock so that he can live with dignity in a Joseon that has been sullied by those who value wealth and power above human life.

Ro Woon introduced the character by saying, "Si Yul is a youth who is always ready to leave, like a wanderer, but through various incidents, he finds his own path." He also explained his choice of project: "I felt a powerful energy, like 'I absolutely have to do this,'" and "Si Yul became such a precious connection and a friend-like presence to me. Even after it ended, I missed him very much."
Director Choo Chang Min remarked, "I told Ro Woon I was going to take away his greatest weapon — his good looks — but he agreed and redesigned his face and body anew. He really worked hard in every single scene. At every moment, he said, 'I'll do better,' pouring out everything he had."

Martial arts director Park Young Sik also praised him, saying, "He was like a tiger under the guise of a deer. At first, his gaze was gentle and deer-like, but when he exploded, the way he instantly changed was astonishing."
The Murky Stream is coming September 26, only on Disney+.
