Chae Won Bin shares thoughts on her first rom-com, 'Sold Out on You'

Chae Won Bin has shared her first rom-com experience with Sold Out on You.

Sold Out on You follows perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee, aka Quail (Ahn Hyo Seop), and home shopping show host Dam Ye Jin (Chae Won Bin), who suffers from insomnia. 

In the K-drama, Chae Won Bin plays Dam Ye Jin, a passionate home-shopping show host whose broadcasts consistently result in complete sell-outs. Taking on the rom-com genre for the first time, Chae Won Bin expressed, "I felt nervous about challenging myself with a new genre, but I was also excited about what new things I would learn and experience. Since I'm taking on a new genre, I really prepared very hard."

Chae Won Bin described her character: "Dam Ye Jin is a lovable yet somewhat pitiful person. When I'm around her, I want to tell her she's doing well enough and that I’m proud of her, but at times you also feel like being a bit stern with her. In that way, she feels a lot like me and also like a close friend, which made me even more drawn to her."

Chae Won Bin revealed that she even visited a real broadcast set to observe firsthand, saying, "They don't just memorize a set script, they write it themselves and conduct live broadcasts based on their impressions. I also saw them responding to questions that came up in the comments in real time, which made me realize it's a job where you have to handle a lot within a set time. I paid close attention to the details so I could portray this naturally."

Lastly, Chae Won Bin said, "I'm confident that Sold Out on You will be a project where people can briefly relax and feel at ease amid today's busy modern life. I filmed with the hope of conveying to viewers the same comfort I received while preparing for the project," adding, "Please look forward to a funny, cute, and heartwarming rom-com that is."

Sold Out on You will premiere on April 22. The K-drama will be streaming on Netflix.
