'My Royal Nemesis' wraps up at a personal best; while 'Reborn Rookie' holds steady
Confidence Queen gives the first glimpse of Park Min Young as Yoon Yi Rang, a genius con-artist boasting GOAT-level beauty, brains, and wealth.
Confidence Queen follows three con artists — Yoon Yi Rang (Park Min Young), James (Park Hee Soon), Myung Gu Ho (Joo Jong Hyuk) — with different backgrounds who team up to seek revenge against villains of this era.
Park Min Young plays Yoon Yi Rang, an heiress with an IQ of 165 and a genius considered to be in the top 1%, who also leads a team of con artists.
The stills give a glimpse of Yoon Yi Rang's charisma as a genius con-artist. She is seen at a laundry, sitting in front of a washing machine, and surveying her surroundings with a lethal gaze and chic expression as she works out her plan, hinting at the burdens of a leader.
Anticipation soars for Yoon Yi Rang's fierce exploits as she thoroughly "launders" the hypocritical villains. Park Min Young explained her reason for choosing Confidence Queen, saying, "When I read the script, I think I could somewhat understand why Yi Rang had no choice but to become a sociopath."
When asked what she has in common with Yoon Yi Rang, Park Min Young replied, "When I work, my INTJ tendencies come out, and Yoon Yi Rang likewise shows an INTJ side. Yi Rang may seem like she's doing things casually, but she actually imagines every detail and even prepares Plans B and C. I felt [she in that way,] was similar to me. But I'm not crazy like Yi Rang."
Park Min Young left a remark brimming with pride for the project: "I think this is a K-caper with many common denominators that people all over the world can relate to and themes that transcend borders. I hope many people will watch it."
The production team gave high praise, saying, "The more we filmed, the more we found it utterly impossible to imagine anyone other than Park Min Young playing Yoon Yi Rang," and added, "Please be sure to watch Confidence Queen to witness Park Min Young's superb acting, now extending even into the caper genre."
Confidence Queen will premiere on September 6 on Prime Video.
