Recently, Korean media reported that a man in his 30s, identified by the surname Kim and believed to be idol and actress Ji Soo's brother, was arrested on April 15 in Seoul on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female streamer at his home. He is accused of molestation after allegedly inviting the woman to his home. While he has admitted to meeting her, he reportedly denies any use of force. In addition, he is also under investigation for separate allegations of domestic violence involving his wife.
Ji Soo has distanced herself from the controversy. On April 20, Eun Hyun Ho, a lawyer from Kim & Chang Law Firm representing Ji Soo's agency Blissoo, released an official statement addressing the issue.
Attorney Eun stated, "Regarding the issue concerning the family of the Blissoo artist, which has recently been spreading through some media reports, online communities, and social media (SNS), we express grave regret over the indiscriminate actions that associate the artist and Blissoo with the matter, as well as [acts that] damage the artist's reputation based on information that is not in line with the facts."
He continued, "The matter currently being raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and Blissoo, and much of the content circulating online consists of unverified speculation or clearly false information." He added, "The artist started as a trainee at a young age, became independent early on, and has lived apart from her family for a long time, making it impossible for her to be aware of or involved in the private affairs of the individual in question."
Regarding rumors that Ji Soo's brother served as the representative of Blissoo when she founded her one-person agency, the statement clarified, "During the preparation process of Blissoo's establishment, there were instances where family members provided limited advice and assistance, acting as intermediaries in discussions with relevant parties. However, from then until now, no family member has received any compensation from Blissoo or participated in its decision-making in any capacity."
"Since then, the company has been managed completely independently, without any involvement from family members whatsoever." The statement further emphasized, "Neither Blissoo nor the artist provided any financial or legal support to the individual [in question], nor does it intend to do so in the future."
Attorney Eun added that the spread of false information or the use of the artist's name and image in unrelated matters constitutes a clear violation of rights and defamation and warned that they will immediately take all possible legal action, both civil and criminal, against the distribution of defamatory or false content, the use of the artist's name, image, or likeness in matters unrelated [to her], and the publishing content based on speculation that has not been verified for facts.
