Upcoming mystery thriller The Scarecrow has unveiled a teaser.

The Scarecrow tells the story of a detective investigating a serial murder case who forms an unexpected partnership with the very man he despises. The drama follows two men's pursuit of the truth, spanning over 30 years from 1988 to 2019.

Park Hae Soo takes on the role of Kang Tae Joo, an ace detective known for his keen observational skills and sharp instincts, and Lee Hee Joon plays Cha Si Young, an elite prosecutor with cool-headed judgment and strong political acumen.

After being demoted, Kang Tae Joo returns to his hometown of Gangseong and begins pursuing the real culprit behind the Gangseong serial murder case. However, upon crossing paths with the prosecutor in charge, Cha Si Young, he is confronted with a dilemma—he must capture the criminal he desperately wants to catch, but do so by working alongside the man he loathes just as intensely.

Meanwhile, Cha Si Young leads the investigation into the Gangseong serial murders, taking it as a stepping stone into the political world. Willing to use any means necessary, he joins forces with Kang Tae Joo, his former classmate whom he used to bully during their school days, and who is now the detective assigned to the case.

The teaser begins with Kang Tae Joo saying, "It might have all started that day." As the scene shifts from Kang Tae Joo in 2019 — his hair now streaked with gray — to him in 1988, the investigation of the serial murder case that occurred in Gangseong that year unfolds. As the number of victims increases, the modus operandi becomes more apparent, confirming the case as a serial killing, and the tension heightens further with the addition of a female witness's testimony: "There was a scarecrow."

Night after night, the two scour various crime scenes after sunset, yet their deadly game of hide-and-seek with the killer shows no sign of ending. The teaser concludes with Kang Tae Joo saying, "The reason the victims haven't been wary of them — they waited until the target they wanted appeared, then moved when the time came. And if they were caught, they became a scarecrow." A suspicious silhouette of the scarecrow, lowering its arms in the darkness, flashes by, ending the teaser on a chilling note.

The Scarecrow will premiere on April 20. News about the K-drama's global OTT is yet to come. Stay tuned!
