On January 5, veteran actor Ahn Sung Ki's agency, Artist Company, announced, "Actor Ahn Sung Ki passed away at 9 a.m. on January 5, 2026, at the age of 74."

The memorial altar for the deceased will be set up in Room 31 of the funeral hall at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. The funeral procession will take place at 6 a.m. on January 9, and the burial site will be Byeolgeuridada in Yangpyeong.
Park Sang Won, a director of the Shin Young Kyun Arts and Culture Foundation, stated at the funeral hall of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital that "at the request of the bereaved family, it has been decided to hold a five-day funeral."
Film personalities and actors, including Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung, will serve as pallbearers, seeing the late actor off on his final journey.
On December 30 last year, the late actor Ahn Sung Ki was rushed to the emergency room of Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital after suffering cardiac arrest and had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
He was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and was declared cured the following year, but the disease later recurred, and the actor had been battling it since. News of his illness became known after he appeared at an event in 2022 looking noticeably different from before. At the time, his agency revealed that Ahn Sung Ki was undergoing treatment for blood cancer, stating, "He will focus on recovery and treatment so that he can greet everyone again in good health."
Born on January 1, 1952, Ahn Sung-ki made his debut as a child actor in the 1957 film Twilight Train. He became one of the most famous actors of his time, starring in numerous films, including modern productions Hansan: Rising Dragon, The Hunt, and Noryang: Deadly Sea.
