Bai Lu-Cheng Lei fan war intensifies over 'The First Jasmine' stand-in allegations
Netflix has released character stills from Weak Hero Class 2, giving a glimpse of character dynamics.
Weak Hero Class 2 is a tale of growth and survival of model student Yeon Si Eun (Park Ji Hoon), who transfers to a new school carrying the trauma of failing to protect a friend while standing against violence. Determined never to lose another friend again, he confronts greater violence, unfolding a desperate struggle for survival.
The character stills reveal the new faces Yeon Si Eun (Park Ji Hoon) encounters as he confronts even greater violence both inside and outside of school.
First, Yeon Si Eun's transformed aura, spotted at the notorious "Eunjang High School, draws intrigue. Bearing the deep scars of failing to protect a friend, Yeon Si Eun appears to have reverted to being cold and reserved, a version of him before meeting Ahn Su Ho (Choi Hyun Wook). His intense gaze, as he pulls out his pencil case and assumes a combat-ready stance, hints at a brutal fight that is far from over. Viewers are left anticipating how Yeon Si Eun's desperate fight for survival — driven by his determination to never lose another friend — and his journey of growth will unfold at his new school.
Returning with an upgraded impact in the signature "brain action" and a deeper emotional arc, Park Ji Hoon shared his thoughts on portraying Yeon Si Eun: "I spent a lot of time thinking about whether Yeon Si Eun would be able to make friends again, and how to develop the flow of him meeting new friends. I focused on expressing Si Eun's desperation through his gaze," he said, highlighting where he placed emphasis in his performance.

Adding to the excitement are the dynamics between the three Eunjang High students — Park Hoo Min (Ryeo Un), Seo Joon Tae (Choi Min Yeong), and Go Hyun Tak (Lee Min Jae) — who might just be the ones to make Yeon Si Eun smile again.
Ryeo Un commands attention with his striking presence as Park Hoo Min, the just and principled leader who maintains order at Eunjang High. Park Hu Min, famously known as "Baku", is not only a figure with immense strength but also one overflowing with a sense of justice. He approaches Yeon Si Eun and stands by him, choosing to face violence together in order to protect their friends.
Ryeo Un, who reportedly gained over 10 kg to build the character Park Hoo Min, expressed his affection for the character, saying, "Park Hu Min is a character with strong convictions." "I was deeply moved by the friendship of these kids who choose to confront even greater violence to protect their friends. I found Park Hoo Min's warm heart and strong sense of justice especially compelling."
Choi Min Yeong takes on the role of Seo Joon Tae, Eunjang High's so-called "bread shuttle" [a term bullies use to describe someone they order around for errands and chores, esp. buying bread/snacks] with a hidden punch.
The still showing Joon Tae, sitting timidly in class, reflects the harsh reality he faces.

But everything begins to change when he sees Yeon Si Eun bravely standing up to violence. Inspired by him, Seo Joon Tae finds the courage to fight back for the first time.

Choi Min Yeong, who brings depth to Seo Joon Tae's journey of growth, shared his approach to the character: "He may look like the weakest, but I focused on uncovering the quiet strength that allows him to inspire the strongest."
Lee Min Jae, who confidently stated, "I worked hard on the action scenes, which I personally feel most confident about," takes on the role of Go Hyun Tak — Park Hoo Min's best friend and a man of action. His combat-ready movements highlight his background as a former taekwondo athlete, making his physicality stand out all the more.

Adding another layer of intrigue are the characters who clash with Yeon Si Eun. Yoo Soo Bin takes on the role of Choi Hyo Man, Eunjang High's informant who's eager to join the school's alliance of delinquents. Describing Hyo Man with a touch of humor, Yoo said, "Choi Hyo Man is like a troublesome seven-year-old."

Adding to the tension is Na Baek Jin, the one at the top of the alliance that constantly threatens the core four of Eunjang High. The role is played by Bae Bae Na Ra. Standing on a podium, Na Baek Jin looks every bit a model student. But in another still, his dark aura bursts forth, revealing a starkly different side.

Bae Na Ra shared, "Na Baek Jin has a sharp mind and excellent fighting skills. I did a lot of research on the action style that is quick and light, yet packs a heavy punch."
Lee Jun Young portrays Geum Seong Je, who doesn't want to belong anywhere or to anyone, drifting through life in pursuit of nothing but "fun". His chilling smile adds an edge to his laid-back demeanor, hinting at the kind of villain he is.
Lee Jun Young described his character Geum Seong Je as "so unpredictable, he could be nicknamed 'an adrenaline junkie.'"
Weak Hero Class 2 is coming April 25, only on Netflix.
